pregnancy massage
Prenatal massage is therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue:
- tranquil relaxation and reduce stress
- relief from muscle cramps, spasms, and myofascial pain, especially in the lower back, neck, hips, and legs
- increase in blood and lymph circulation, which can reduce swelling
- reduces stress on weight-bearing joints
- may help to improve outcome of labour and eases labour pain
- enhances the pliability of skin and underlying tissues
- provides support for the new mother with physical and emotional strains of mothering
c – section scar massage
Go beyond letting the scar heal and care for it. Much has happened in the body, during pregnancy and especially during C-section. Through touch we can encourage the tissues to move well, to aid movement and function, but also encourage somebody to touch their body after C-section.
pelvic girdle pain
1 in 5 women are affected by PGP.
Symptoms include:
- pain & stiffness in the pelvic joints
- difficulty walking, climbing stairs & turning over in bed
